About Pharma Anveshan

PharmaAnveshan is a prestigious national initiative organized by the Pharmacy Council of India to commemorate National Pharmacy Education Day on 6th March, marking the birth anniversary of Prof. M. L. Schroff, the Father of Pharmacy Education in India.

Prof. Mahadeva Lal Schroff (1902–1971) is revered as the Father of Pharmacy Education in India. He pioneered formal pharmaceutical education by establishing India’s first pharmacy department at Banaras Hindu University in 1937.

Prof. Schroff played a crucial role in shaping modern pharmacy curricula and professional standards in the country. His vision laid the foundation for organised pharmacy education, research, and regulation in India. In recognition of his immense contributions, his birth anniversary (6th March) is celebrated as National Pharmacy Education Day in India.

About Pharmacy Council of India(PCI)

The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) is a statutory body established in 1949 under the Pharmacy Act, 1948, operating under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India. It regulates pharmacy education, sets minimum standards for qualification (D.Pharm, B.Pharm, M.Pharm and Pharm.D.), approves institutions, and maintains the central register of pharmacists to ensure uniform professional standards nationwide.

PCI Sets minimum requirements for admission, curriculum, and practical training for courses like D.Pharm, B.Pharm, M.Pharm and Pharm.D. and it Conducts meticulous on-site inspections to approve institutions for conducting pharmacy courses under Section 12 of the Pharmacy Act. PCI also enforces a Code of Ethics to ensure accountability and professional integrity among Pharmacist practitioners.
